Salix sericea

Salix sericea is a small tree native to the southeast, though largely absent in the southernmost states. It is found in wetland sites, and needs wet soils to do well. It prefers to grow in part shade. It has small inconspicuous flowers that bloom in the spring and attract pollinators. This plant is also an important host for several native butterfly species. Salix sericea works well for restoration projects and erosion control.
