Ulmus americana

Ulmus americana is a native tree found in moist forests across the southeast. It prefers to grow in rich moist to wet soils in the full sun, but can tolerate drier soils or partial shade. The seeds produced by this tree are eaten by songbirds and small mammals. It is an important host plant for several native butterfly species. Ulmus americana works well in restoration projects or as a shade tree.
