Sparganium americanum

Sparganium americanum is a grass-like plant native across the southeast. It is naturally found submerged in wetland habitats. It grows best in full sun to part shade. It can survive submerged in up to one foot of water. It produces spiky, round, white flowers in the summer that attract lots of pollinators. These flowers mature into interesting spiky seed heads. This plant spreads primarily by rhizomes and can form colonies. Sparganium americanum is a great choice for restoration projects or pond plantings.
