Osmunda spectabilis

Osmunda spectabilis is a fern native throughout the southeast. It is predominantly found in wetland habitats, and can grow in moist soils to standing water. It prefers some shade, but can grow in full sun if kept wet. During the growing season, it can reach up to six feet tall. This fern dies back completely in the winter. It has golden showy fertile fronds that unfurl in the summer and remain through fall. Osmunda spectabilis is an excellent choice as a specimen plant in a wet yard.
