Onoclea sensibilis

Onoclea sensibilis is a fern native throughout the southeast. It is naturally found in wetland habitats, and grows in full shade to sun (if soils are kept wet). It can grow up to four feet tall in the growing season, and dies back completely in the winter. Dark brown fertile fronds mature in the summer and last through the fall. Onoclea sensibilis is a good specimen plant in a wet yard.
