Nyssa aquatica

Nyssa aquatica is a tree native across the southeastern coastal plain, although it does occur somewhat inland. It is naturally found in wetland conditions, and needs wet soils to thrive. It does best in full sun to part shade. The flowers bloom in the early spring and are much enjoyed by pollinators. Fruits are produced in the fall and attract birds and small mammals. Nyssa aquatica works great for restoration projects.
