Festuca ovina

Sheep fescue

Non-native nurse crop. Quick germination will hold soil and moisture in place, and restrict weed growth. Festuca ovina is a weak competitor that should not interfere with native seed. It is shade tolerant. Use simultaneously with one of our native seed mixes. We recommend a rate of 3-5 pounds per acre (or 20% of your overall mix). It is best suited for fall or winter seeding.
