Eryngium aquaticum

Eryngium aquaticum is a flowering plant native across the southeastern coastal plain. It naturally occurs in brackish and freshwater marshes. It grows best in full sun to part shade, and in soils that are moist or wet. However, it can tolerate drought once established. This plant has unique spiky blue flowers that bloom in the summer and persist into winter. The flower stalks can get up to four feet tall, and attract lots of pollinators. Eryngium aquaticum is a great specimen plant in a yard, or for restoration and pond plantings.
