Equisetum praealtum

Horsetail

Equisetum praealtum is a unique plant native across the southeast. It is naturally found along riverbanks. It grows best in moist to wet soils, in full sun to shade. This plant has green, hollow stems that can grow up to three feet tall. It spreads through rhizomes, and can form dense stands. It provides cover for small wildlife. Equisetum praealtum works well as a specimen plant in a rain garden, or for restoration projects.
