Quercus falcata

Southern red oak

Quercus falcata is a native red oak that occurs commonly in dry to moist forests across the southeast. The leaves of this tree are pointed and lobed, like most red oaks, but have a characteristic long and narrow central lobe. Quercus falcata works well for restoration projects in dry sites, or as a street tree. Oak acorns are an important food source for much of our wildlife, and oak trees serve as important hosts to much of our butterfly, pollinator, and insect life.
