Juncus coriaceus

Leathery rush

Juncus coriaceus is a rush native across the southeast, found predominantly in wetland habitats. It grows well in full sun, with soils that are moist to saturated. It has grass-like evergreen foliage that can grow up to three feet tall. This plant provides good cover for wildlife. It is fairly deer resistant. Juncus coriaceus is excellent for restoration projects or pond plantings.
