Rhododendron atlanticum

Dwarf azalea

Rhododendron atlanticum is a shrub native to the Atlantic coastal plain, extending as far down as Georgia. It is typically found in acidic wetlands, although it can grow in occasionally dry soils as well. It prefers full sun or part shade. The showy and fragrant pink flowers bloom in late spring and attract butterflies, hummingbirds, and other pollinators. Rhododendron atlanticum is an excellent specimen plant for a yard.
