Carex stricta

Tussock sedge

Carex stricta is a clumping sedge with slender leaves and long, drooping seed heads. It is native to most of the southeast, but less common in the southernmost states (absent in Florida). Carex stricta is found naturally occurring in wetland areas, and grows best in full sun to part shade. Like any of our Carex species, Carex stricta works well in several different applications: wetland mitigation, stream restoration, constructed wetland, or as a rain garden plant.
