Sabatia kennedyana

Plymouth rose-gentian

Sabatia kennedyana is a native flowering plant that occurs in North and South Carolina along the banks of the Waccamaw river and in adjacent ditches. It grows best in full sun to part shade, and soils that are moist to wet. This plant has feathery green foliage that dies back to a strong basal rosette in the winter. Showy, bright pink flowers bloom in the summer and attract pollinators. Sabatia kennedyana is great as a specimen plant in a yard.
