Chelone glabra

Chelone glabra is a flowering plant native throughout the southeast. It is predominantly found in moist to saturated soils, and grows best in full sun to part shade. This plant produces upright clusters of white and pink flowers in the summer; these attract hummingbirds, butterflies, and other pollinators. It dies back almost completely in the winter. This is a host plant for a few native butterfly species. Chelone glabra works well as a specimen plant in a wet yard, or for restoration and pond plantings.
